Course Description

This course aims to equip NDIS workers, behaviour support practitioners, and service providers with the practical knowledge and procedural skills required to identify, report, and manage incidents in line with the NDIS (Incident Management and Reportable Incidents) Rules 2018.

It supports compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards and reinforces a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. Through real-world examples and case-based learning, participants will gain confidence in handling incidents effectively while ensuring participant safety, rights, and dignity remain the top priority throughout the reporting process.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify and classify different types of incidents under the NDIS framework, distinguishing between reportable and non-reportable events.
  2. Follow the correct step-by-step procedures for immediate response, notification, and documentation of incidents in accordance with NDIS Commission requirements.
  3. Maintain accurate and secure records to support compliance, investigation, and continuous improvement within their organisation.
  4. Apply ethical decision-making frameworks to ensure transparency, fairness, and the protection of participant rights during and after incident management.
  5. Contribute to a culture of learning and accountability by engaging in reflective practice and post-incident reviews that strengthen future service delivery and minimise recurrence.
